Supplements, measured to the milligram.
We treat a supplement the way a pharmacologist treats a drug: what the dose is, how much of it is absorbed, how long it stays in the body, and how the trial dose compares with the scoop in the tub.

Nine issues, dose by dose.
Half Life launched in the autumn of 2024 as the pharmacology title of VOL Collective, the independent editorial studio in New York. The first issue carried eight founder interviews, each closing with a dose box that set the label beside the trial.
We read the label, then the study the label is quietly leaning on, and we report the gap. We do not diagnose or prescribe, and we never mistake a mouse, a cell culture or an eight-person pilot for a result in a person. When the evidence holds up, we say that too.
Today 33,200 people read Half Life each month, most of them in the US, and 10,100 get The Friday Dose on Fridays. Seventy-four percent have looked up a dose in a study or a database before buying, and 62 percent take three or more supplements a day.

Issue 09 and the first Label Night
The monographs launch in July, starting with what a label actually gives you per scoop. With 33,200 readers a month, founders from this issue bring a label to the first Label Night, where a pharmacist and a trial statistician read it aloud with the audience.
