Beam counts above 18 million nights logged with a single evening cocoa, a figure that describes habit formation as much as chemistry.

The number frames the pharmacology question. What dose sits in the scoop, how much reaches circulation, how long it remains, and what study supports the label.

Lombardi played hockey at Boston College and later inside the New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins system before a concussion closed that path, while Moran played baseball at Boston College and entered the Chicago White Sox system before injuries and operations closed his. They met again around Boston Marathon and IRONMAN training and tried CBD for lingering pain, injury residue and anxiety.

Retail choice annoyed them. Oils carried traces of THC plus undisclosed additives while labels gave thin detail on source or assay. The response became Beam in Massachusetts, first a tincture plus a topical lotion offered from a folding table on Boston sidewalks, inside CrossFit boxes and inside juice bars. The file notes Colorado hemp grown under organic practices, a THC free stance, plus an early cannabis specialist brought in for product work.

The catalog now reaches past hemp. Sleep, gut function, hormones and daily output form the set, with Dream as the volume leader and Biotic as the gut staple. The telling turn is verbal. The founders stopped using CBD as the company definition and began using health and wellness instead, while the operational load shifted to powders, flavor control, batch records and repeat purchase.

You moved from Boston College athletics into tech and out of baseball through injuries, then reconnected around IRONMAN work and CBD trials for old damage. What did sidewalk buyers tell you they wanted spelled out.

Matt: Kevin and I first crossed paths at Boston College, I was on the hockey roster and he was on the baseball roster. A serious concussion ended my professional hockey path and moved me toward tech work. Kevin dealt with his own sequence of baseball injuries. When we later prepared together for an IRONMAN we tested CBD for support with our older injuries.

We held clear personal standards for wellness goods, yet locating an all natural option with open ingredient disclosure proved discouraging. When we chose to launch Beam, we lacked deep CBD knowledge, but we thought the market would accept an option cleaner than much of what sat on shelves. Out on those sidewalks and inside those gyms, shoppers posed plain questions. What is the source. What sits in the bottle. Is THC present. Securing capable partners at the start proved central to Beam progress, since slogans could not satisfy those questions and factual replies were required.

Kevin: Sport teaches full effort toward each task and teaches acceptance of wins or losses that follow. You act, you err about half the time, and you watch the outcomes closely. That folding table trained us to hear buyers and to draft labels that allow verification.

Powder behavior now dominates your operation, with moisture, particle size and flavor lots deciding whether serving twenty matches serving one. What altered your chain when powders overtook oils.

Kevin: Conditioning showed us that nightly sleep and steady habits outweigh any lone compound. Dream rebuilt our supply completely. Where one hemp extract plus carrier oil once sufficed, we now coordinate cocoa, five sleep supporting components, Cinnamon Cocoa and Brownie Batter flavor systems, sweeteners and powders that respond differently to warmth and damp air.

Powders demand blending validation, particle control, moisture limits and serving consistency. A jar marked 20 servings must deliver the same scoop on the first evening and the twentieth. That calls for qualified mixing, checks during runs, and lot based assays of finished goods. Cultivation remains relevant, but the mixing room and the fill line now carry equal weight.

Matt: Athletics and business both reward reframing. In my experience, successful people convert setbacks into useful direction. CBD sourcing taught us record keeping. Cocoa sourcing taught us flavor endurance and habit design. We aim to equip people to approach their best selves, whether athlete, student, bus driver, older family member or anyone else, and that goal required a chain able to produce a nightly beverage rather than only an oil.

Your founding language promised Colorado hemp under organic cultivation, refined toward THC free and pharmaceutical grade quality, while you described rivals as unregulated and tainted by THC traces, metals and pesticides. How was supply arranged to support that wording.

Matt: Worthwhile goals never come without steady labor. To perform at a high level or assemble a strong company, daily effort is mandatory. For Beam that discipline began at the farm rather than in promotion. Colorado hemp under organic cultivation gave us a named state, a system we could inspect, and cultivation documents we could request.

We excluded THC and hazardous additives from day one, and we excluded binders, dyes, excipients and unidentified matter. Each inbound lot needed a certificate of analysis on arrival, followed by independent laboratory review for identity, strength and contaminants including heavy metals and pesticides. Fill weight and capsule content were compared with the label so panel milligrams matched contents.

Kevin: I arrived at Boston College for baseball and there I met Matt Lombardi, now my Beam partner. Confidence from that relationship shaped vendor selection. We prefer open ingredient disclosure over proprietary blends, and we prefer buyer education over rapid acquisition. Any lot outside specification stayed back and never shipped.

Dream lists Original Cinnamon Cocoa at 20 servings for 49.99 dollars and 30 servings for 64.99 dollars, alongside Pumpkin Spice and Brownie Batter, built around 5 powerful sleep ingredients. Trace that cocoa from farm to jar and mark strong versus weak documentation.

Matt: Cocoa starts the sequence. Pods develop on farms, beans pass through fermentation, drying and roasting, then milling and pressing follow. That base reaches us with origin documents and limits for moisture and microbial load. The five sleep supporting components arrive apart from cocoa, every one with a certificate of analysis and an identity screen. A qualified blender then unites them, and uniformity testing precedes jar filling.

The finished lot assay carries the most weight. Marker potency, microbial screens, heavy metal screens and panel conformity sit in batch files, and the jar code directs back to those pages. We can identify contents and present assays behind the Supplement Facts panel. Farm level mapping for minor flavor parts across seasons is weakest. Cocoa changes by harvest and flavor suppliers adjust blends to preserve taste. Specifications and tests are enforced, but grower names for each minor part are not yet released. Publication of that layer is the planned advance.

At 64.99 dollars Biotic pairs prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics and glutathione in Crisp Apple and related flavors. Living strains impose strict needs for identity and survival. How are strain, count and stability controlled.

Kevin: Biotic operates as our most demanding chain. Prebiotic fibers arrive as dry powders under straightforward specifications. Probiotics call for tighter control. Every strain carries identity, a culture bank record and a colony forming unit count. The panel states counts at manufacture or at expiry depending on format, and our task is preservation of that count through mixing, filling and storage.

Culture vendors must supply strain level identity plus potency and contaminant certificates. The mixture stays dry, packaging restricts moisture, and warehousing follows temperature bounds. Postbiotics consist of inactivated ferments and therefore hold steadier, while glutathione arrives as a tested input with its own potency assay. Finished lots undergo review so Supplement Facts values align with formulation and with stability support.

Matt: Repeat buyer behavior guides us more than fads. Gut powders earn judgment across weeks on mixability, flavor and tolerance, so lot to lot steadiness outweighs new flavor launches. That steadiness rests on consistent growers, consistent strains and consistent assays across lots.

A 20 serving jar should measure the same on day one as on day twenty.

You refuse THC, binders, dyes, excipients, unknown substances and opaque ingredient lists. How does a flavored powder separate required helpers from clutter.

Matt: The screen reads everything you need, nothing you do not. Any component without a role in flavor, stability or the label stated use stays out. Flavor systems and sweeteners bring the tension. An evening cocoa must taste soothing and familiar or the routine lapses, so we permit disclosed and tested flavor parts while we reject dyes and hidden blends that obscure identity.

Kevin: Trust is built at the Other Ingredients list. We inspect it as shoppers do. Each processing aid must justify itself for flow, dispersion or moisture management, supported by specification and assay. When fill weight, uniformity and shelf behavior hold without an aid, we omit it. That discipline sits behind the phrases start your own wellness revolution and operate at your actual best. The change is unglamorous. A brief label with traceable parts.

The range now covers sleep, gut health, hormones, performance and kids nutrition, including a Shawn Johnson co created item, framed as better sleep and all day wellness. How is origin control preserved while formulas multiply and harvests vary.

Kevin: Expansion multiplies farms, fermentation vessels and flavor lots, so control rests in systems. Authorized growers, authorized culture collections, authorized flavor houses. Each holds a specification, an obligation to report changes, and a defined assay plan. When harvest character moves, the lot must still clear identical identity and contaminant thresholds or face rejection.

Matt: Nothing valuable arrives without sustained work, and origin assurance needs daily attention. Formulas stay fixed, backup sources gain approval ahead of demand, and the lot file remains authoritative. Shoppers reserve a small shelf space for years. Our duty is year to year jar equivalence, backed by documents.

From Boston College contacts to early street selling, what remains before Dream and Biotic can show a full public chain with growers, ratios and sheets per lot.

Matt: Finished lot documentation is near ready and primary grower naming is further along. Complete release requires steady grower disclosure from each minor vendor plus consent to post audits, alongside a site tool where entered lot codes return the paired certificate. That tool is under construction.

Kevin: Sport instills total commitment to each pursuit. Our version is stating what traces today, stating what does not yet trace, and completing records to narrow the gap. When a household buyer enters a lot code and views the farm, the extract ratio when applicable, the standardisation when claimed, and the independent results for that batch, the label will have fulfilled its role.

Closing note from the desk

Half Life looks for milligrams beside trial doses, and here the lot file does much of that work. Lombardi and Moran talk in batch terms rather than adjectives, state what a scoop should contain, and mark where mapping thins for seasonal flavor parts. The absorption and half life story for a five part sleep blend and a four part gut blend still needs human pharmacokinetic data and randomized comparison at label dose.

What holds up is process control. Incoming certificates, third party screens for identity, potency, microbes and metals, and jar codes that resolve to a packet. What needs a trial is outcome. A controlled sleep study at the Dream serving and a controlled gut tolerance study at the Biotic serving would let numbers replace routine anecdote. The founders sound willing to be measured, which this desk records as credit.
